No sound is output from your MAC when using "Audirvana Plus".

Please change the set-up of [Volume control type] of "Audirvana Plus" to [Software only].

●How to change?
1. Select [Audirvana Preferences] from [File] menu.
2. When the [Audrvana Preferences] screen appeared, click [Audio Volume] tab.
3. Set [Volume control type] on the [Audio Volume] screen to [Software only]

Sound does not come out of the speakers

Try the following remedies:

  1. Check the USB connection
    The USB cable may not be inserted properly, or the USB port may have experienced a problem.
    • Remove and reinsert the USB cable, check connection again.
    • If there are multiple USB ports on the PC, remove the cable and try another port

  2. Check volume settings
    Volume adjustments are handled on the PC.
    Please confirm the following settings

    1. From the [Start] menu select [control Panel].
    2. When the [Control Panel] screen appears, select [Hardware and Sound].
    3. When the [Hardware and Sound] screen appears, select [Adjust system volume] from the [Sound] menu.
    4. When the [Volume mixer] screen appears,make sure the volume slider under [Device][Speakers] is not set to the minimum value and also it is not checked to [Mute].

    1. From the [Apple] menu, select [System Preferences].
    2. When the [System Preferences] screen appears, select [Sound].
    3. When the [Sound] menu appears, select the [Output] panel. Make sure that the output is set to USB Audio DAC and confirm the [Output volume] slider at the bottom of the window is not set to the far left minimum value.  Also, confirm that the [Mute] check box is not checked.

  3. Confirm Speaker Universal System Settings
    It is possible that speaker universal system settings are not set correctly.
    After connecting the product to a PC, it may be necessary to adjust operating system speaker settings.
    Please adjust settings with reference to the following information.

    1. Click on [Start], [control panel] and then [Sound and audio device].
    2. [Sound and audio device properties] will appear.
    3. Change the [Audio playback] setting on the [Audio] menu to [USB Audio DAC] and click [OK].

    1. Click on [Start], [Control panel], [Hardware and sound] and then [sound].
    2. Click the [Playback] tab.
    3. Select [USB Audio DAC] as the sound and voice output, then click on [Default settings].
    4. Click [OK].

    1. Click on [Apple] and then [System Preferences].
    2. Click on [Sound].
    3. From the [Output] menu, select [USB Audio DAC] for the sound output device and then close the menu.

  4. Confirm Volume (PC media player settings)
    Confirm that media player (Windows Media Player, iTunes, etc.) volume is not set to minimum value.

  5. Confirm that drivers are properly installed.
    It is possible that device drivers are not properly installed or recognized.
    ■Windows
     Check [Device manager] settings to ensure that the speakers are not recognized incorrectly.
     A yellow [?] or [!] icons should appear on the [Device manager] window if the speakers are not properly recognized.
     If one of these symbols appears, right click on the symbol and select [Delete] and try reinstalling the driver.
     If the device is still not properly recognized, restart the PC with the speakers connected.
     * If multiple yellow [?] [!] icons appear, delete them all after removing the speakers from the USB port.

     ●How to display [Device manager] on Windows 2000:
    1. Select [Settings (S)] and then [Control panel] from the [Start] menu.
    2. When the [Control panel] screen appears, double click on the [System] icon.
    3. When the [System properties] screen appears, select the [hardware] tab and then click on the [Device manager (D)] button.
    4. The [Device manager] screen should appear.

    1. From the [Start] menu, select [Control panel(C)].
    2. When the [Control panel] screen appears, select [Performance and Maintenance] from the [Select task] menu.
    3. When the [Performance and maintenance] screen appears, initiate the [Control panel] menu and then select the [System] option.
    4. When the [System properties] screen appears, select [Device manager] from the [Hardware] tab and select the [Device manager(D)] button.
    5. The [Device manager] screen should appear.

    1. Select [Control panel] from the [Start] menu.
    2. When the [Control panel] menu appears, select [Hardware and sound].

    5. The [Device manager] menu should appear.

     Confirm proper device recognition on [Apple System Profile] menu.
     If no USB column appears, the device has not been properly recognized.
     Restart the computer with the speakers connected to the USB port.

    1. Select [Apple System Profile] from the Apple menu.
    2. When the [Apple System Profile] screen appears, select the [device and volume] tab and the “USB” column should appear.

    1. Select [About this Mac] from the Apple menu.
    2. When the [About this Mac] screen appears, select [More Info…].
    3. When the [Apple System Profile] screen appears, select [USB] under the [Hardware] menu.
  6. Check for occurrence of inadequate Power Supply
    This product operates on power supplied by the USB port. If this product is used in conjunction with a USB hub or other intermediary device, the device may not be recognized or function properly due to inadequate power supply.

    Always connect the TW-S7 speaker system directly to a USB port onboard a personal computer.

  7. Confirm that there is no interference from another peripheral device
    It is possible that connection of another USB device is interfering with recognition of the speaker system
    Try removing other peripherals and then reconfirming recognition and operation of the speaker system.

  8. Confirm that there is no interference from other software applications
    It is possible that the speaker system is not being properly recognized due to the effects of anti-virus software or other background software applications.
    If other background software applications are installed, try temporarily shutting them down and reconfirm recognition and operation of the speakers.

  9. Check output using another set of USB speakers
    Try connecting a different set of USB speakers to the personal computer, check that output is set to the correct set of speakers.
    If sound comes out when a different set of USB speakers is connected to the same USB port, there may be a problem with the speakers.

    If no sound comes out when another set of USB speakers is connected to the same USB port, the problem probably pertains to the PC or PC settings.
    Please check PC settings and direct related inquiries to the PC manufacturer.

Sound from analog TV broadcasts is not output through the speakers

Please check the TV tuner card or PC manual.

Sound does not come out when USB plug is inserted or removed during media player (Windows Media Player, iTunes, etc.) initialization.

Try shutting down and restarting the media player software after removing or inserting the USB cable.

Audio CDs cannot be played back.

Please try the following procedure:

  1. Click the[Start]button, right-click on the[My computer]icon and click on [Properties].
  2. Click the[Hardware]tab.
  3. Click the [Device manager]tab.
  4. Click the [+] mark at the left of the [DVD/CD-ROM Drive] selection and double click on the name of the desired playback device.
  5. Click the [Properties] tab.
  6. Check the [Enable use of digital audio CDs in this CD-Rom device] and then click [OK].

Speaker sound breaks up or becomes distorted.

Please try the following procedures:

  1. Check that volume control is set properly on the PC
    Check PC volume control settings to ensure that volume level is not set too high.
    Volume adjustments can be made from the PC Volume Control screen.

    1. Select [ Settings], then [Control Panel] from the [Start] menu.
    2. When the [Control panel] screen appears, double click on the [Sound and multimedia] icon.
    3. When the [Sound and multimedia properties] screen appears, click on [sound event] and click the [sound] tab. Ensure that the volume slider is not set to the maximum value.

    1. Select [Control Panel] from the [Start] menu.
    2. When the [Control Panel] screen appears, select [Sound, voice and audio device] from the “Select type of task” menu.
    3. When the [Sound, voice and audio device] screen appears, choose [Control Panel] and then select [Sound and audio device properties].
    4. When the [Sound and audio device properties] screen appears, click the [Volume] tab and then select [Detailed settings] from among the [Device volume] options.
    5. When the [Master Volume] screen appears, ensure that the volume slider is not set to the maximum value.

    1. Select [Control Panel] from the [Start] menu.
    2. When the [Control panel] screen appears, select [Hardware and sound].

    3. When the [Sound] screen appears, select the [Output] panel. Ensure that the [Output Volume] slider at the bottom of the screen is not in the far right position.

  2. Confirm that PC volume is set properly on media player software.
    Confirm that volume is not set too high on media player software (Windows Media Player, iTunes, etc.).

  3. Confirm that there is no problem with the connection
    If the PC has multiple USB ports, try moving the plug to a different port.
    Also, press on the USB plug at the connection to the speaker to confirm that the plug has not come loose.

  4. Confirm that there is no problem with the source audio file
    There could be a problem with the source audio file.
    Try again with a different audio file.

There is noise in the Speaker output

Please try the following procedures:

  1. Try removing the product and using the PC onboard speaker(s).
    Disconnect the product from the PC and check the sound output using the PC onboard speaker(s).
    If there is no improvement, there could be a problem with the source audio file or the PC operating environment.

  2. For Windows PCs, check the CPU type.
    PCs equipped with an Atom Z520 CPU may generate noise or experience other problems.

  3. Confirm that the USB port has not become soiled.
    Confirm that there is no dirt or contamination on the USB port or plug.

  4. Confirm status of USB connection.
    It is possible that the USB cable is not connected properly.
    Try removing and reinserting the USB cable.

    If the PC is equipped with multiple USB ports, also try removing the plug and reinserting it into a different port.

  5. Check the surrounding environment
    Other electronic appliances, such as television sets, may emit strong magnetic fields.Try moving the speakers away from major electronic appliances.

  6. Check System Speaker Settings on the PC
    It’s possible that the System speaker settings have not been configured properly.
    After connecting the product to a PC, it may be necessary to configure OS system speaker settings.
    Please configure settings in accordance with the following procedures.

    1. Click on [start], [control panel] and then [sound and audio device].
    2. The [Sound and audio device properties] window should appear.
    3. Change the “Sound Playback” setting in the [Audio] tab to [USB Audio DAC] and then click [OK].

    1. Click through [Start], [Control panel], [Hardware and sound] and on to [Sound].
    2. Click the [Playback] tab.
    3. Select (USB Audio DAC) as the sound and voice output, and then click on [Default settings].

    1. Select [System Preferences] from the [Apple] menu.
    2. Click on [Sound].
    3. In the [Output] menu,  change [Select a device for sound output] setting to [USB Audio DAC] and close the menu.

  7. Check the source audio file.
    There may be a problem with the source audio file.
    Try using different audio source data.

  8. Check the PC operating environment.
    If you have another PC, connect the speakers to it and see whether the problem persists.
    * If noise is not encountered when the speakers are used with another PC, there may be a problem with the PC operating environment. Please contact the PC manufacturer or sales representative to determine the cause.

  9. Check the microphone volume control.
    If a microphone is connected, output from the PC speakers could enter the microphone, resulting in feedback or “howling”.

    Try placing a check in the [Mute] box in the [Microphone Adjustment] section of the PC [Volume Control Screen] and check whether the situation is resolved.

  10. Check the AC adapter connection on a notebook PC
    If you are using a notebook PC, the situation might be resolved by connecting the AC adapter.
    Try connecting the AC adapter and see whether the situation is resolved.

  11. Check the media player software display settings
    The situation may be resolved by changing media player display settings to not show movement of the audio signal.
    Check to see if the situation improves after the changing the settings.
    * Refer to the media player “help” function for details regarding settings configuration.

  12. Check for impact of other installed software applications
    Anti-virus, word processor or other software installed on the PC may be impacting performance.
    Try temporarily shutting down or disabling background software applications and see if the situation improves.
    * Please contact each software manufacturer or distributor for further details.

  13. If the situation cannot be resolved in accordance with 1) to 8) above
    If noise cannot be eliminated in accordance with the above instructions, there may be damage to PC hardware or the product. If you have another set of USB speakers, try connecting them to see if the problem persists

Is there a left and right speaker?

Yes, the USB cable is connected to the right speaker.

Sound only comes out of one speaker or left-right balance is greatly skewed.

Please try the following procedures:

  1. Check the connection between speakers
    The pin plug emanating from the left speaker may not be connected properly to the pin jack on the right speaker.
    Ensure that the pin plug is firmly and fully inserted into the pin jack.

  2. Check the USB port connection
    It is possible that the USB cable is not connected properly.
    Try removing and reinserting the USB cable.

    It’s possible that the System speaker settings have not been configured properly.
    After connecting the product to a PC, it may be necessary to configure OS system speaker settings.

    5. Manipulate the Left (L) and Right (R) controls to adjust volume balance.
    6. Click [OK].

Can these speakers be connected to the iPod、iPhone、iPad and similar devices?

No, the speakers cannot be connected directly to iPod、iPhone or iPod Touch portable audio players.

The TW-S7 is designed for use exclusively with Macintosh personal computers running Mac OS9.1, OSX10.1or later and PCs running Windows 2000, XP, Vista or Windows 7.

Can the speakers be connected directly to a MacBook?

Yes, the speakers are design for use with personal computers running Mac OS9.1, OSX10.1or later as well as Windows 2000, XP, Vista or Windows 7.

Why does my PC make a loud noise when it emerges from sleep mode?

Some PCs make a loud sound when emerging from sleep mode due to a change in electrical voltage. Don’t worry; there is no impact on the speakers.

Can I connect the speakers to USB port on my television set or game console?

The TW-S7 Speaker System is not designed for use with game consoles or television sets, which probably are not equipped with the necessary drivers.
The TW-S7 is designed for use exclusively with Macintosh personal computers running Mac OS9.1, OSX10.1or later and PCs running Windows 2000, XP, Vista or Windows 7.

What is the maximum sampling rate supported by the speakers?

The maximum sampling rate and packet size are as follows:

Sampling Rate: 48 KHz
Packet Size: 16 bit
Depending on the PC operating environment, it may be possible source recordings exceeding this resolution through down conversion handled on the PC.

Is it possible to use a USB extension cable?

A standard 6 ft to 9 ft USB extension cable can generally be used without issues, but certain extension cables may cause distortion or result in the speakers not being recognized.

Is it possible to extend the speaker cable connecting the left and right speakers?

The cable connecting the left and right speakers uses a standard 3.5mm stereo earphone jack cable that can be extended by up to 6 ft using a standard cable extension. Note that extending the cable by more than 6 ft to 9ft may result in noise, distortion or other unwanted signal interference.

Why doesn’t TV broadcast audio come out of the speakers?

The TW-S7 Speaker System uses standard OS drivers, so the problem most likely lies with the media player application. Check to see whether sound is output using ordinary music player (WMP, iTunes, etc.) applications.
・If not, please refer to the FAQ section entitled “Sound does not come out of the Speakers”.
・If the speakers work with other applications, check with the manufacturer of the TV tuner, PC or media software player application.

A small volume adjustment on a Windows7 or Vista PC raises the output level too much

It is possible to fine tune the volume setting using device volume (main volume) and application volume adjustments in tandem. Please configure settings in accordance with the following procedures.
